On a different note Jatan:

Has someone SPECIFICALLY told you that you will not get a job in Canada because you don't have Canadian education or experience?

I mean, at the end of an interview, do they actually say the words? Or do you 'assume' these as well?

I was going to ask this as well...there was a thread sometime ago(DTC?) and nobody actually could say that it was the explicit reason given by the interviewer/employer for refusing a job

Allow industry to run short of whatever type of people it needs. Then let them hire and sponsor people from countries outside.

I quite agree with this. However, there are always people going to be unhappy about this king of action(if implemented) as well.

Yes. People will always be unhappy no matter what.

But hopefully, we won't have PhD desis and the like delivering pizzas or driving cabs.

And about jobs not being offered on account of "No Canadian experience", yes it was me who had raked this issue earlier. Not many confirmed it but I remember mercury saying that he had been told exactly that.

But I don't think it is as common as it is made out. Anyways there was a lot of discussion about it in that thread.

Jatan:

Again, I’m trying to understand the mindset.

I maybe wrong, but I think what he wants to say is that it is wrong for the Canadian Government inviting immigration in such large numbers, while fully aware of the unfavourable employment scenario.

The simple fact that jobs are not available and such a large number of immigrants are struggling, should be reason enough to clamp down on immigration.

The US is such a large economy and has a lot more jobs to offer. Despite that, getting immigration into that country is very difficult. They do not allow people to come in at random. Entry is permitted but only if that person has a job. The same logic should be applied here. Allow industry to run short of whatever type of people it needs. Then let them hire and sponsor people from countries outside.

The Canadian Government inviting immigration in such large numbers, while knowing that job shortage is in labour (odd) fields not in skilled / fields. Also not inviting unskilled immigrants (like UAE) for unskilled works but implicitly forced them (skilled immigrants) into unskilled work area.

Is Canadian Government not playing games with educated professionals?

Ans: if you got your field job then NO (20-30%)
If you didn’t get your field job then YES (70-80%)

Please don’t ask me proof for percentage, instead I can show you 4 or 5 desi immigrants who are not working in his/her field on showing me 1 desi immigrants who is in his/her field.

It's been so many employers that I can't even recall the amount of them.

The one after which I really became negative, I am quoting below.. I changed my whole career after that. Took me a lot of time to get going with studies and my future after that incident because I had really become negative and was so broken couldn't do anything.

This guy had some 25000 job as a junior prog. I said I am fine with it. Wasted my gas, cell phone time for something senseless. I gave the interview etc. Didn't call me for few days. I called him back. Said I didn't have Canadian experience so the top management is not sure. I said why don't u give me a test. He prepared one which I passed easily. Gave me around 300 questions out of which I got 298 right.
He again told me he'll call me. Again no message for 3 days. I call him again. He said I don't have Canadian education.
I asked him whether is it about my English etc. He said , my communicating skills are absolutely fine.

After that I jumped on him, because I had reached my tolerance limit of listening to this crap each day. I told him off right over there. I said don't u guys read resume's before calling a person and wasting time if u just wanted to tell that in the end. U tell us that we don't have Canadian edu....
. Personally I don't want such education which doesn't even explain HR ppl to read resumes before calling them for an interview.

I do regret losing my temper that day, but then when I talk to many other professionals having same probs. I thk maybe I did something right. These ppl require to hear ppl attacking them back.

If an employer feels there is something wrong in a person's skills etc, point it out so that person can work on removing it. by just saying u don't have Canadian....... I only thing I can infer is that ur a worthless person who doesn't know anything because u never worked in this God's own and only country where the most educated, intelligent ppl live (though when u ask them to count 5+ 9 they have to use their fingers to calculate. )Atleast in India and US employers do that. they'll point out where we lacked the skills to join a company.

sorry guys talking about all this brings out a lot my negativeness. My main pupose to join this site wasn't to bash, it was more to help ppl who are in the same boat I was in but I guess it takes time to heal.

I guess I still have a lot of resentments in me. When I go deeper about this small period of 3-4 yrs of my life it still troubles me.

That was a crappy excuse('canadian education') to give after all that wasted time.

This will cause you more harm than the person/s it is directed against.
Hopefully, you will oneday find out that you would not wish it any other way. Atleast then it'll be easier to let the resentment go.
