Hi all.. had a question and would appreciate if someone could reply.. I became a Canadian PR in Mar 2004.. am working in US right now.. I wanted to know how much time does it take for your spouse (from India) to also become a Canadian PR ? would it be the usual 1-1.5 yrs (if applied from US) or would it quicker (coz me being a PR) ?

Mine is also similar case, as yours is. I am a Canadian PR living in USA, and would like to knnow as to how to go about getting my wife the PR. The timelines, do not give enough information. What did you do to get this started?, if you did. And, how long is it typically taking for the Spoouse to get a PR?.

If I live outside Canada, can I sponsor?

"If you are not a Canadian citizen, you cannot sponsor if you live outside Canada.If you are a Canadian
citizen, you may sponsor a spouse, a common-law or conjugal partner, or a dependent child who has nodependent child of his or her own. You must reside in Canada when the sponsored person becomes a permanent resident."

Therefore to sponsor her you will have to move to Canada. Check the following website for the timeline to sponsor spouse:

basically as mentioned above if sponsor is a PR and working in US one cannot sponsor a spouse for PR in Canada. so i dont know if the timeline is even of relevance unless the sponsor moves back to Canada.

once a citizen yes the timelines can be looked at to see which office is faster although i see New Delhi at 3 months and US (mentioned above) at 6-10 months
