If we had followed Subhash and Bhagat Singhs Approach we would had been free by 1800's instead of 1947

Dear Jago Desi,

Growing up in India, I remember us kids singing "Gali Gali mein shor hey BJP chor hey". It was a mantra that was God's word for the kids and anybody who disagreed was a "chor". We kids didn't undrstand politics, neither did we have any political inclinations, but we just believed that Congress were the "Good Guys" simply becuase others said so.

You are defending MKG simply because you think that one should not talk bad about "The Father of the Nation". This attitude is no different from that mentioned above.

If you feel that what I "Accuse" MKG of is not true, please present some facts to refute my arguments. I can certainly present some to support mine.

What is a Democracy without the People critically analyzing those we put in power? :D

It is very simple but difficult to understand with prejudice.
He was man of simplicity. He taught Indians & Paksitanis(Now) a simple message "SELF RESPECT" The steongest meningful word.
You agree to that or not BUT whatever education you impart to your child is "SELF RESPECT" that implies you teach what MKG taught your parents and then they taught you.
That is the reason he is know as father of Nation....he taught you a simple message every parent on this earth would teach their children.

My family wasn't taught Self Respect by MKG, they learnt it all by themselves. Most of my ancestors of the Pre Independence era were Freedom Fighters (And none supported MKG and his views) ;)

This is the Hype that I get tired of listening. If Gandhi had kept his "ambition" and political agendas out of the picture, India and Pakistan would still be one United country and Hindus & Muslims would still be living in peace and harmony, considering themselves Indians first and anything else after that. The Partition was one of the saddest moments in both India and Pakistan's history, our very own holocaust.

People think that Gandhi brought great success to India. But in reality he was a failure, despite his great popularity. He caused the birth of a nation out of hatred. The division of India was a curse that caused great suffering to millions who were displaced by this ill decision of Gandhi and Jinnah. The curse still haunts the people of the subcontinent, by causing many more wars and much more hatred.

I don't care what all good Gandhi did for India (certainly not all that they'd like you to believe), but it will never match up to the evil called partition, that was brought about simply because of Gandhi's rigid and idiotic support of "Pundit" JL Nehru.

Desis, Jago! , It's time to stop romanticizing with our past and start learning from our forefather's mistakes. :D

You feel proud of your family teaching you self respect BUT he went beyond your ancestor thinkng and taught mass India's population self respect. Did you ancerstors do that??? That is why he is known as father of nation. He considered India as his family. He was effluent rich vaishnav from Gujarat. Had luxuries at his disposal. But he adopted path good for every one. Nobody could guess what turn this century will take after couple of decades. Is it fair on your part to put every Indian policy on MKG shoulder. So, you mean to say you ancestors wanted golden chidya to be served cooked on platter by MKG.
Why you want to blame MKG for partition. And what major difference that made to Indian economy. Do you think if India and Pakistan where still one country it would have made difference. What difference do you expect. You have time to think and tell us, MKG did not have time at that moment when hindus and muslims where killing each other for piece of land.
You have great values for your ancestors, compare their achievements with MKG services. If you respect them (which you should) why not MKG. A man with walking stick and a piece of cloth could make a difference. What difference do you expect to make yourself for India or Canada despite of technology at your doorstep.
It is good to reason but it should be with respect ...............I admire him because he was not hypocrate. He was human being with different attitude.
I respect your ancestors for teaching your family self respect. I admire MKG for teaching Indian's self respect including you and me.

First of all, I didn't quite get the part about my ancestors "wanting golden chidya to be served cooked on platter by MKG". Secondly, please go through my post and Pay Attention! I am not blaming "All" of India's problems and policies on MKG's" revered" shoulders, just the Partition and creation of Pakistan.

I'm surprised that You asked what difference it would've made if India and Pakistan were one? Have you been on vacation in another dimension all these years or what? Read the news, look around. The resources that India has to commit every year just to repel Pakistan's infiltration and Terrorism efforts could be better used for a stronger economy, a stronger military and a better educated workforce. To answer your question in a nutshell, if India wasn't divided, India would be a Super Power now or close to it.

According to you, Gandhi decided to opt for partition of India simply because Hindus & Muslims were killing each other! What Magical Hat of History did you pull that twisted fact from? Sure Hindus and Muslims were killing each other, but who set off the sparks? YOU GUESSED IT - Your very own, Home Grown "Father of the Nation" MKG. (http://www.geocities.com/raqta24/bangla5b.htm)

Also, since when has "Stress" become an acceptable excuse for bad judgment by leaders and men in power? Maybe "Mahatmas" are exempt from the "Power brings Responsibility" doctrine?

You admire Gandhi because "he was not a hypocrite!" I am sorry to be the bearer of bad news my friend, but Gandhi wrote the Bible of Hypocrisy. On one side he professed his admiration and love for Hindu religion to gather Hindu support and on the other side he used emotional Blackmail on Hindus to "Turn the other cheek" against Muslim Atrocities, just to fulfill his personal agendas. Let's also not forget the allegations against Gandhi by his OWN great Grandson about the abuse of power by MKG. There are other less savory allegations about MKG's celibacy which I wouldn't mention in a public forum.

And lastly, if you want to concede that you learnt self respect from MKG, fine, but don't speak for Everybody Else!

I'm quite sure he would not mind being categorised thus, so inspite of having nothing but admiration for someone like him...who was a role model for countless people all over the world, from dr.Martin Luther King jr to Nelson Mandela, i probably dont have to defend Gandhi even in this subtle way :).
