Viva la Vancouver, Are You Serious? By: Hi, article.php?id=45 |

It intrigues me that so many people rush to a 'dream' , be it canada, or a course in 3D animation - without much prior investigation / planning of what is and is not...and when things don't go as per the dream, they point a finger at the 'system' due to that badly gone dream.
Sure, vancouver has 'problems' - being a well travelled person, i have yet to see a major city that is utopian in any sense.
Why sell your self short and work for Wendys for goodness sake!
Your options would be, if i may suggest -
a) to not give up on your dream and accept an internship/ training to obtain experience, even if not paid, work your butt off and slowly climb the ladder thru contacts etc.
I take it you have relatives you live with / financial support from back home? This is an tough/expensive place to survive w/ out a pay packet.
b) better off heading home if you choose to be bitter - more chances out there w/ a 'foreign' degree - you may still have some competition from the more established animators tho.
I think 'we' think that just coz we've landed here, its an easy ride all the way and people will be nice to us despite our attitudes.
Im afraid this is just another city, and a prettier one at that!
