One of the drawbacks on life in north america is the limited time and opportunity one gets to visit india.
In the middle east and south east asia desis get to visit every year atleast and the annual vacations are also plenty , here with a good job , going back to india every year seems a major effort. . i have come across indians here who do not visit back for 3-4 yrs even sometimes 6-7 years even if people have good jobs.
some of the reasons i have heard are -- very little time off --- hard to get 2 -3 weeks off at a stretch -- and one prefers to visit other parts of the world in annual vacations instead of going to india...and so on
i feel this is one drawbck of canadian life .
It will be nice to know from other members how often have they been able to visit back after coming to canada.

What can be imagined, can be achieved.
I have been to India thrice since coming here in 2000. Not as frequently as I'd like, but I did stay for a couple of mos. on the first one and about a month each on the next two.
And honestly, the flights don't bug me that much. Its always so exciting to go, if I could afford it and get leave, I'd go twice a year.
I might add that I was single guy on those three trips, so it was easy to afford. Its a whole different story for a family of three/four, which is the case with most of my friends. No big surprise that most of them don't go very frequently, hardly once every three years.
