Hi Guys,
I am planning to visit India any my return flight will be via Dubai ..so planning to buy Digital Camera(5MP+) from there as my friends were telling that it will be much cheaper comparing Canada .My main concenrns are
(1) Can I buy using my Canadian visa credit card or I have to pay cash in their currency?
(2) Do I need to pay any duty when I land in Canada.I am thinking the camera price won't be more than CDN$600
N.B Is there a good Canadian electronic stuff buying stuff website.I was checking http://www.tigerdirect.ca and looking for similar kind of sites

Can I suggest something here ?
Are you "desperate" to buy a Camera ? If so then read no further and go ahead and buy the camera . Dubai would be better, and nope you do not have to pay duty for the camera. It is "a camera" afterall and nothing else. JUst make sure ytou have removed all tag's etc. before you bring it in.
Now for the stuff..
Digital Camera's, these days, have a compression technology for storing images. It is the JPEG technology. Image qualities are not good and hence there is a proposal to incorporate a newer technology in digital camera's for storing images. This is based on the new JPEG2000 standard. I expect prices for those camera's to be very low as the CHINESE Govt. is encouraging mass production of such camera's. They will hit shelves early next year. Right now a company eFotoExpress is implementing that via software.

So if you want to wait a few more months then you can get a "really" good deal. How do I know this ?

Basically I want to buy a digital camera with 5+ MP ...currently in my SONY digital camcorder I can take digital still photo but it is only 1 MP
I checked that website you mentioned but do you have any idea how much price tag will be there for 8MP digital cameras and when they will actually be available in the market ?
Also do you have any idea how much will be current price in Dubai for a 6MP digital camera (Make Canon,Sony etc)

Wouldn't know. But make sure you check where the Camera "is assembled".. If its China, Taiwan etc. think twice.... If its Japan... then go for it

Cameras purchased @ Dubai have guarantee valid in Asia and Far East . N Aerica is not included !
I compared prices in Bahrain / Amstredam Duty Free and Yonge St last October . Toranto was marginally cheaper but didnt carry an indian warranty .
If u can tell me the model I will let u know the best prices here in ME. U can then compare them with Canada.
