Glad to see Tory take this stance, politically motivated it might be though. Killing two birds at one stone

- No other party would accept such hot potato
- Conservatives get a chance to show that they are not homophobic.

This action also sends a strong message in South Asian community, where homophobia is prevalent to a large extent, as also evident from some of the postings on this board.

I will be voting Tories because a) Harpers stance on niqab and other related issues b) Canadian Liberals following Indian Liberals policy of mollycoddling minorities. If you are really interested in my issues, treat me just as another Canadian, don't support my antiquated beliefs that I have left behind in my motherland

I also agree with Febrpeet's point - the social media and news media is severely vitriolic against Harper. I read some of my white Canadian's ant-Harper posting, and ponder how they are less nasty then the nastiness of Harper that they tend to highlight.

Yes. I completely disagree with Conservatives cuts to scientific research and support to oilsands, but will vote for Harper just to spite the anti-Harper lobby and my dislike for Indian liberals.

Looks like NDP has lost the fizz per recent surveys ... Liberals and Conservatives are neck and neck ...

Of the 2, I would prefer Conservatives and Stephen Harper for the following.

a. Trudeau's deficit financing plan is very risky and can put the economy in a worse state than before....it is too liberal .

b. Harper's commitment to ISIL conflict which is a responsibility well adorned.

c. Conservatives balanced development approach and taking a conservative approach in economic expansion esp in these trying times.

d. His commitment to not increase taxes and provide sops to families in terms of increased payments .

I don't think I am that inclined towards Harper. I like Trudeau's plan to spend on infrastructure that's the need of the hour, and not the balanced budgets. We have highways full of Cars and without any improvements on the public transit system. We have service cuts just in order to balance the budgets, and no new infrastructure spending.

For ISIL, I think Trudeau will have similar plan. I don't think there would be much deflection if Liberals come in.

The problem is, the balance development under Harper didn't kick in anything. Highway traffic has worsen with no concrete steps, despite the Govt. had money by bringing in balance budgets. They don't have any improvements to show as far as the Medical system is concerned. Add to it, the daily scare tactics a la US Republican style puts me off. By getting more and more involved in the middle east, Canada is poised to become more of a security state than the once peaceful one. Even their plan to tackle crime is more of GOP style where you stuff more prisons than showing any concrete change on the ground.

I like their immigration policies though. In the past few years, the quality of immigrants have changed a lot and it's visible.

After seeing how Ontario Liberals performed for the last few years(scandals galore and freebies galore for teachers and unions) , I am not very keen on voting for Justin Trudeau. Maybe next term. Ever since Mrs Wynne gave her support to Justin Trudeau, every time we discuss about Liberals in the election, I compare the stubbornness Mrs Wynne has shown recently (not seeking parents feedback in the Sex ed curriculum change, HOT plan for Gardiner, lack of transparency regarding accused Ben Levin's involvement in the curriculum etc) . I am all for changes in sex ed curriculam, but belive that the Provincial govt should have engaged Ontarians in the face of massive protests. Lack of open dialog in the provincial politics is going to hurt Justin Trudeau...just a hunch.

I was hoping NDP's platform would give challenges to Conservatives. Also, the NDP leader Mr Mulcair didnt impress during the debates , just my opinion. So that leaves Mr. Harper. I am still debating, but most likely will vote for Harper. I like Harper's stance on bringing in Refugees, extremism etc. If Mr. Trudeau messes up in the next week, Mr Harper will sweep GTA.

I am not fully supporting Mr Harper's insistence on the niqab issue. I read somewhere that all citizens need to get their identity validated in another room where they all remove niqab and show their face to validate the identity. If thats true, whats wrong with someone wearing niqab during the Oath? For sure, it will look out of place in Canada, but this reflect changing times. Didnt they know this before accepting immigration from everywhere?

I agree with NYdesi - same feelings here. I have no faith in liberal promises. Even with my disagreements with Harper on a lot of issues, I am leaning towards Conservatives for now. Today's poll with liberals at a slight lead mainly in ONT & QC is making me worried about the foolishness of ont voters..

Voting for Liberals just for the sake of spending on Infrastructure. Besides, I hate the scare tactics and all that Nigab/Hijab politics by Conservatives.
