Give us Canadian rates and I will give you Indian rates.
I have a refurbished Samsung that I bought online for Rs.5500. The starting samsung smartphone online is around Rs.4000.

Get the model number and put it in flipkart / amazon / rediff shopping and see. For India it is always to buy from India. The stores have the min. starting price at Rs 6,000. Advantage with India is that the price quoted is incl. of tax.

Otherwise, second hand smart phones are very cheap in Canada. You can get it in Kijiji. You can get for $ 20, $ 30 and the like. You pay no taxes.

Unlocked brand new phones are pretty expensive in Canada. Most people sign 2 year contracts to get subsidised phones and get stuck in some stupid expensive contract :(

Plus you will need a different charger or adapter to charge in India..the charger from here doesn't work there.

Make sure its unlocked, otherwise it won't work in India till its unlocked.

Samsung and Apple phones are overpriced and overhyped.

Just go for BB or Moto G .

A brand new unlocked BB Z30 can be bought for ONLY $ 200 + tax and shipping directly from BB.
Its a very good phone and looks like a Samsung or Iphone ..its touchscreen.

LMK if you want that and I will send you a code , so you can get it for that price directly from BLack Berry :)

Yeah as TK mentioned just check the price on Amazon India, Snapdeal , Flipkart , Reliance digital , Tata Chroma etc and then compare the ouright price over here with taxes

The Indian phone market is more advanced ..

With lots of demand , there s a huge spectrum of phone availability and very good prices ... You even have local vendors with very good phones like Micromax selling new Android phones for Rs. 6,000/- .

If to be used in India , Id buy it in India as you would get guarantee and service also ... the only exception could be an I Phone or top of the line Samsung S 6 ... which might be slightly cheaper here for new and hugely cheaper here used .

Ensure that you are buying unlocked ...

side note: Why dont you guys consider buying online ??? i see some good deal , seems they are still cheaper after paying tax and shipping -

BTW: i don't buy stuff online - i don't mind paying little extra but i need to know what m i getting

but if you are looking for deal i know many people buy online and get good deals.
