I got laid off from my work. I want to do some cash jobs. I found uber toronto they said you can start with you own car working as driver just like taxi service.
It is just like taxi. I am not sure i can make cash money. Has anybody knowledge about this service.
How much we can make money per day.

Uber is banned in India / China and some more destinations. Not sure if it will bring you any profits in Canada.
As you might know, In Canada, there are a lot of somalis driving taxi's and even in 2010, they used to make like $ 6 an hour. So not worth it, IMHO.
Working in Gas station is better.
If you want to use your car, be a pizza delivery driver or a wine delivery driver.
If you need help in other jobs / free stuff, please do indicate so, as I have been asked by the moderators not to force my free stuff in CD (unless asked for).

For uber, your car has to meet certain criteria for make/model/year. It is not like you can drive any car. They pay to your bank account. Also my guess since it is kind of unregulated, there will be ton of competition.

I remember this software engineer who used to drive a cab on the weekends and said there was good money he made.
I think you should go ahead and give it a try - the possibility of cash income is less but then the middleman cut would also not be there .... All in all worth a try and since every UBER user is enrolled on the service with a credit card , it might be safer than regular taxi driving...

Uber is not bad.
But they keep on increasing their commission & the competition from other Uber driver's is increasing.
They don't care whether there are 10 Uber drivers or 1,000 Uber drivers in Toronto. So now you have to fight with other drivers to get a ride.
They have different fares / business models for different cities.

Remember you have to give a cut or commission from that to UBER , so what you take home is much less. Plus all other expenses like gas, insurance , maintenance are also YOURS , so include that also.
Be VERY CAREFUL with your personal car insurance. They WON'T cover you if you are in an accident. Not sure if UBER will cover you. Its still a GREY area. Your car insurance company will say ..OOPS..you used your car for a commercial reason & you are not covered.
Commercial Insurance is a must & that costs thousands of dollars more ! Uber says they cover it, but most people are saying they DON'T ..so not sure who to believe. Some say they only cover the passenger & NOT the Uber taxi driver !

As a part time cash job its not bad.
But don't expect more than minimum wage after all is said & done.
If you see your expenses & the time & mileage you put on your car, and what you get in return ..its not much.
Actually meet an UBER driver and ask them about their experience, cost , take home pay etc.
