Friends,

One of my relative who works in IT company in Delhi is asked to relocate to Canada for a project of 2-3 years on employment visa , As he is married can anyone please suggest me on following clarifications:

1) Can he sponsor spouse to come along with him? If yes, under what category of visa he can apply for spouse visa?
2) Is spouse allowed to work while staying in Canada?
3) As they also have a child, will they also be eligible for all benefits which PR or citizen enjoys like Free Healthcare, Free education and Child benefits etc?

Please suggest.

Thanks

1&2, yes on open work permit which allow spouse to work for any employer.
3, OHIP is free but not childcare or education.

I believe OHIP is available for PR, not for WP residents and dependents. I may be wrong.
Please check on OHIP website for eligibility.

Public school maybe free, but you cannot avail CCTB.

Hope this helps.

OHIP is covered as long as you hold a valid work permit issued by CIC.

Temporary residents can apply for child tax benefit after living in Canada for 18 months.

Spouse can work in Canada but must apply for his/her own work permit.

To the best of my knowledge the above info is correct. But please visit the appropriate government websites for accurate info as the rules could change any time.
