Check out this starter video - you can use it to transfer content. One thing I'm certain of (although I've never tried) is you can transfer your Kinect photos (Kinect takes pictures of you while you play, some are pretty hilarious) to an external drive. You can also use an external drive to save your game progress, if you buy the 4GB version.
