I am planning to buy Nintendo DS Lite for my 7 years old son.

I am totally new to this console. I have noticed there are R4 and DSTTi cards available in market which can help us for playing mp3, movie, pictures and downloaded games.

Anyone can explain in detail?

What different kind of popular cards available and what is major difference between them?
Which one is better for DS Lite?
Anything else need to install on this card or on SD card to play games?
Any source for downloading games?

I am looking for playing downloaded games including MP3, pictures, movie (.avi, mp4) support. Let me know if there are more features which will be helpful.

I have a Nintendo DS and have R4 card as well. I have used it to store multiple games as well as songs. But recently (about 6 to 8 month back), I have started noticing that the downloaded games do not work right (some do not work at all) on R4. May be the game companies got smarter (more encryption for the games) and many games require modified kernel for R4.

This is my experience, may be others know better...
