Hello Group
Can someone who has moved from Canada to USA for work answer the following questions for me. Appreciate your help.
1) Did you have to close all your bank accounts and move your money to US or did you leave any bank account in Canada open.
2) If you left any bank account open in Canada, did you give a change of address to a US address and did the bank accept an address in the US.
I have an account in PC financial and when I called them to give a change of address to a US address , they said that if I am going to me away from Canada for more than 6 months then I have to close my accounts. Did you encounter this issue.

-- If you plan to move to the US permanently (i.e. if your return date is unknown), it is advisable to close all your Canadian accounts once you move to the US. It will be more trouble for you in the long run if you keep the Canadian accounts open.

-- Yes, the major banks do accept it (e.g. TD).

-- Yes, the PC financial operates ONLY in Canada and therefore I closed my PC account as well. They will not accept your US address for long time.

Please do not close your account in Canada just give them another address like your relative or your friend or your previous neighbor they will not come to your home and they will not call to anybody don't worry. I have an account from many years in Toronto. And also you can give them us phone no. its acceptable.
You can also manage your account online.
