These may be your personal views or of a few people but this is not true to say the least ...Sikhs are well respected in the community and despite a different religion , never distinguished in day to day life .... in India as well as outside .
We have our Prime Minister as MMS and he is is never dis respected by anyone for him being a Sikh ...I guess that s a fair example .
Recently in Bollywood we have had movies depicting Sikhs as heroes namely - Singh is King , Gadar & Jo Bole So Nihal which were all huge hits .... Where s the q of dislike or mockery .
As per jokes on Sikhs , that s a bad thing which has been very old but like I mentioned , though we grow up with that , but as adults we should realize that neither is it correct , nor good if it hurts feelings .

For your kind info. Nehru was not the only the leader of Hindus, he was the leader of Indians and Jinnah was not the leader of Muslims he was the leader of separatist muslims.

Stereotyping is long embedded over decades after independence about Sikhs A movie like “singh is king”( Since that depict Sikhs as joker), gadar (sikh as warrior) will succeed. But a movie like randir kapoor’s “Rocket Singh: Salesman Of The Year” flops. Since that show a Sikh as a successful business man. Not only that, when a trend comes on Sikh hero based movies, ndtv ibn etc start making news as why role models should not have beards etc.
Indian Media attack is constant on our community Psyche. They will put a news when in a western world , a sikh gets harm or attacked. But they will never show a news when blood donation world record get broken by Sikhs sponsor by SGPC “Sikhs mini parliament body.
Anyway Need not go further on this discussion. Glad to see people love Sikhs in India. In maharaja ranjit singh rule too. Very important positions of power were given to hindus and indeed Punjabi hindu are our brothers and their destination will be with us in next coming decades.
