I will be applying for renewal of my daughter's passport. She has a PIO card, so she will need endorsement of new passport in PIO card. Has anyone done this recently at CGI Toronto? How long does it take, do they endorse and return same day? Do they return originals back same day? I appreciate anyone who can post their recent experience in this matter.

Same here, My kid renewed her passport twice and still keep the PIO as a separate card. Never endorsed (unlike OCI) that you need to do.

My older kid got a new passport. We carried the OCI card with the new passport along with the stamped old passport while we were abroad recently. No qn from immigration in India or abroad.

-- OCI also does not need any endorsement - I use my new passport along with the OCI card and carry my old passport that has the OCI visa. Never had any problem.

Taken from High Commission of India Ottawa's website http://hciottawa.ca/index.php/consular-services/oci-pio-card-services
"WHAT IF I HAVE PIO CARD AND GET A NEW CANADIAN PASSPORT
You must get the number of the new Canadian passport endorsed on your PIO card. "
While it is true that no one has reported any problems by carrying old and new passports together with PIO card, yet I do not want to take any chances, so I will get my daughter's new passport endorsed on the PIO card when the time comes.
