My friend started a franchise business lost of lot of money. Its not guarantee of success. If you understand any business and smart you will be successful. Start a business you confident on.

All franchises have their own websites. You can contact them through their websites. They ask junk of informations about you and your financial status. Some conduct tests and issue a letter of approval.
Regarding loan, it depends on your credit scores as well as how much you have for capital. Banks are strict nowadays so it is required that you have more money in your hand as suggested in earlier post.
Pros: you don't have to move here and there to find a job in this competitive market. You can get some tax benefits and ROI is good compare to other investments if factors like location, rent and other costs are in your favour.
Cons:You need a large chunk of money in your hand. You have to be ready 24*7 to handle your business. Rents are very high and you have to pay high amount for godwill only. and finally... as when there are high returns, high risks.
