Hi,

I recently got a job offer from a firm near Toronto, Canada. Right now, I am in the US. The company is applying for LMO right now. Can someone please help me decide a few things:

1. Once the LMO is approved, is it better to apply for the visa in the US or in India? I hear that I would need to go through medical examination if I apply for the visa in India. What is the timeline to get the visa once the LMO is approved?

2. Should I wait to get my work permit to apply for PR? Will it make a difference to have the work permit when you apply for PR? Or is that something I can submit later during the process?

3. Is there something with the PR process that is going to change soon, which might prompt me to apply for the PR sooner rather than later?

thanks in advance for the help

Regards

When you apply from the USA the processing starts from Buffalo. This you can find out from the people (your employer) who are applying for the LMO. If you take a look at the application process for a VISA, on a work permit, you will get all of the details. Everyone has to go through the same routine. Medical, PCC, FBI check, etc., Don't forget to include the family in your application. Please do the search or ask the ones that are getting the LMO for all of the help. They are the best and there are no short cuts.

Approval some times take six months. Then another six for the application process. Some times it is a tad faster, If they already have the open LMO.

If they are working on the LMO, and you get here after that, you will have to do a two year stint at the job which you will be entering into, and while you are at it you can find out about the application process for the PR. There is ample time after that to do it. First settle down in the job and study the papers.

I used to watch a lot of Star Trek Shows. In that I picked up one of their sayings. Which is: I do have a crystal ball and I am low on the batteries. And, " I am still looking for the Dilithium Crystals for my crystal Ball". In short your guess is as good as mine.

Hope for the best.

Freddie.
