I agree with some things...not all.

You really really have to question how they picked this $700 Billion number in a day or less. I am sure they put LOT of thought into it...just as much as they did before invading Iraq (oh wait that is supposed to be "helping" ), just as much as they did before deregulating beyond belief...

Michael Moore is going to the extreme. I really wonder if many Americans have brains in their heads to think that Moore is a saviour or that what he says right. I saw the movie Sicko (by moore) and agree with the problems in US health care systems but not the solutions proposed by him. He sort of takes his ideas to the sky while only what hit the ceiling is probably right...
It is absurd to say that we may never have head this credit crisis if US had a universal health care system. May be just 1-3 % of the total credit crisis was as a result of bankruptcy due to health care (and thus losing all your possessions incl. your house) but not more than that.
Of course US needs a 2 tier healthcare system (Private and Govt. care for those who canot afford it). The Govt. care should be filled up with doctors from third world countries (like India, Philipines, Mexico etc..) where there are abundance of doctors and they should be paid reasonable salaries like 60K to 80K a year max.. The existing doctors in USA should take a huge pay cut in their salaries b'cos the current salaries are unbelivable. Again USA should sort of try to nationalise Health insurance so that there is no private (shareholder) investor...
Again this credit crisis was due to giving Mortgages to every Tom Dick and Harry and they should see who was responsible for that (some say that it was the Govt's policies that made them give mortgages) and the culprit should be jailed.
The Iraq and Afganisthan war is also taking up too much of money from USA and they should try to end the war ASAP and try to save dollars. USA has already helped Afganisthan , Iraq and Pakisthan too much and they should stop it soon and try to mend their own homes.

Hope this helps.

Peace by TK

Most of the part seems to be true, but even I don't believe in the universal health care as an issue which had lead them to present crisis.

Most of the Americans & people through out the world believe that US is been defeated in the war against terrorism in Afghanistan & this economical crisis in their own home, seems to be one of the reason for their belief. Doesn't it ????????

No one factor can be held exclusively responsible for this present situation.
It's a combination of several things, although the draining expenditure in warfare around the world has contributed significantly.
The boom in the US for the last few years was mainly because of this housing/lending practices by the banks.
They kept money flowing in the hands of people who spent it in the retail sector and on lifestyle expenses, which fuelled further growth (and further debt).
I don't think the fact that the housing bubble has burst (like the tech bubble) should be a surprise to anyone.
The bigger surprise (at least to me), is unlike the tech bubble, this time the impact is worldwide and threatens to essentially drag down the entire world economy into a vortex (already doing that to some extent).

As extreme as Mike Moore may seem, you need some of it to negate/balance the lunacy in the biggest garbage dump that is the US of A. I am not saying the democrats will have an answer for any of this anytime soon, but why in God's name would the public in that loony bin vote for the republicans?

To my best of information, 60% Democrats voted yes and 30% repbulican voted yes and hence bill got defeated. Obama has pledged his support to bailout publicly. Why balme republicans?

If it wasn't contextually clear, I meant regardless of whether the phony bill conconcted magically in a day gets passed or not, "why in God's name would the public in that loony bin vote for the republicans that have blown up a super power into smithereens these past eight years?".

By the way, I would love to hear from you why anyone would not want to blame the republicans for the past eight years.
