New family looking for a basement appartment in Edmonton

We are planning to move to Edmonton around August 10th 2008 with two children. We are looking for a basement appartment. Can someone advice how to go about it? It will be fine if someone can advice one near the Capilano mall. We will be greatful if we can get a family friend too in the locality.

You still have five weeks or so to reach your destination. Hope some one from Edmonton will chip in with some information you are seeking. Canadian Desi has a lot of information on Edmonton Alberta. Please search for it.

There are two web sites. One is "Kijiji" and the other one is "Craigslist". Please search them and see if they will provide you with what you are seeking for a start.

I dont know why do you want to find near Capilano. I lived there for 3 months but did not feel confortable as no Indian community. So I moved to Millwoods area.
Near Capilano mall, there are few apartments only. You can find:

As I am in Dubai, and have no idea of EDMONTON, I looked onto the google map and this is the place I could locate close to my office(to be) which is on street . Yes Millwood is good if Indian community is in majority.
Can someone guide me to any available appartment in Millwoods?

After reading your post i felt to convay a message so that you wont be in trouble.
I am subrahmanyam curruntly in calgary, alberta. Came from abudhabi 2 months back.
i had a similer situation like you to find a proper acomidation before comming to calgary. i was keep on trying on desi to find any basement or room to start my life in calgary. Unfortunatly here peopl wont encourage any renting process before you land in Alberta. i found things are possible in Toronto.
I recomend you to find a temp hotel acomidation for a week and come down here and then find a proper place.
I came here and stayed 10 days in a hotel acomidation then i found a friend through him i am now staying with a friend as paying guest.
i know it will be a discouraging message but it will help you in a worest situation.
