hi guys from the uae, i have a quick question, i have a friend who was working few years back in dubai and left the country and did not send his passport to cancel his working permit as he was scared may be the sponsor can seized his passport and now that person is going to india via dubai and would like to transit for few days - will it be a problem with the immigration in this case as his company cancel his visas without his passport and its already been 8 yrs back.
and suppose if he transit only at the airport and not to go out will it be ok, he is holding indian passport and pr card holder. your reply is most appreciated.
Very often, employers declare people (whose passports are not available) to be absconders so that they (the employers) can cancel the visas and free their visa quota.
Being declared an absconder often entails personal details of "the absconder" being fed into the immigration/passport control computers. If an absconder is tracked by the computers, the individual can be arrested.
If the person does NOT cross passport control, there should not be a problem but I am not aware if the passenger manifest is forwarded to immigration authorities.
In this situation, it might be best to avoid flying through Dubai/UAE entirely.
