My citizenship application is in process and yesterday i got a letter that i need to go for fingerprint. They also sent me a form along with it. If i go for electronic fingerprint will i still be required to fill and send the form that i received along with letter. I think it's for ink fingerprint but not too sure. How will CIC receive my electronic fingerprint results? Can someon please advise?

There are only a few locations that do Electronic Finger Printing services. Some of the Securities Companies ask for them and get them done at those locations. In your case it will be the Local Police Departments. You have to call them and make an appointment and you can ask them about the procedure that they are currently following to fulfil the Citizenship Department's requirements. Also ask them about the mode of payment too. Because, some of the Electronic Fingerprinting Locations will request a payment by Electronic means, which stands to reason.
A word of caution :
MPORTANT TIP: When your fingerprints are scanned, the fingerprint technician who takes your prints will give you a RECEIPT and/or a PHOTOCOPY of the fingerprint scan.
Please keep these documents. They contain your Transaction Control Number, which is needed if you pay for the fingerprinting service on line, rather than by cash at the Department of Police's Office. Also, copies of the documents should be submitted with your application.
If the Police Department provides you with an ink copy, they also take one for their files and in due course it gets into the Data Base.
All of them are interlinked and they verify through the secondary means to check the authenticity. If the verification comes through and matches, which normally does, they O.K. it.
You can enquire about the flow of the data and the time it takes, from the Officer, when you are at the that location. Please let us know the details, if you don't mind.

I went yesterday for fingerprint and it was done at Commissionaires in Mississauga. I wanted to make it fast so I went this route. I didn't want to go for ink and paper based and also didn't want to wait for appointment. Cost me $52.50 and was done electronically. At the end I asked gentleman who took fingerprint that how long will it take. He said that he already sent it electronically to RCMP as we were talking. I should expect to receive test letter from CIC in next 3-4 weeks. Don't know how true it is.
