Me and my wife did our first landing on 30th May 2008 in Toronto and on 2nd June my father expired, in that circumstances I went back to India and my wife is staying back with a friends family in Toronto. As I am a resident of UAE, today I have returned to UAE after completing the rituals.

I cannot re-enter Canada as I do not have my PR card yet,(Just 10-12 days now since we did our first landing) and my wife is alone there and in these circumstances would like to know is

1) Should I wait till my wife receives both of our PR cards and she sends me it by
(a) Courier,
(b) Send with some one who is coming to UAE and get it to me
(c) She personaly bring it to UAE.


2) Should I apply for travel document in AbuDhabi Canadian Embassy. If so how much time it will take and what is the possibility of getting the same as my wife is already there as she can collect my PR Card.

I am very confused and tensed as she is alone there and also worried if something goes wrong in PR card what will happen and what should I do or she can do.

Please, please, please help us ...

All the offices are linked and hence you cannot avoid creating a confusion in the issue of your PR Card.

You have been tracked. They also know that you are not in Canada.

Now, before you decide to take any further action into this, please take into consideration a few of the things that are set into motion by your application for your PR Card. It is in process and you requesting for it has speeded up the issuing of it and it should be at the door step in about thirty days from the date of applying for it. So, you do know when you will receive it here in Canada. First issues are sent to reach within thirty days, currently.

If you want to disregard the previous application and over ride the issuing of it, then you can obtain a travel permit and within fifteen days or there about, by producing a copy of the death certificate and with an accompanying letter, providing them with an explanation, and of course the application for the travel permit together with all of the required documents, fees etc., to the nearest Canadian High Commission for it. The chances are that they might just coincide, which ever route you wish to take. So, you are not any better off. Do remember that you are creating this confusion.

Since you are extremely eager to come down here, no matter what, you might apply for the Travel permit and obtain it and you know for sure that you will receive it and you can make proper travel arrangements with it. This is a sure fire method, but may not be cost effective.

Thanks for your reply, anyway I have decided and applied for travel document, as in my present situation i am not bothered if i face some extra expense but more important for me is to be with my wife who is there w/o me in a new country.
