Gujarat may be the only dry state in the country. Is there any statistics on the alcohol consumption in the dry state of Gujarat ?!!?
Few states Gujarat, Punjab, and AP in India are doing extremely well and boosting Indian economy. Reliance Jamnagar Refinery is a world bench mark.

In pollution? What will be environmental cost? Have you ever visited Alang Shipbreaking yard? Have you heard of "Golden Corridor" between Baroda and Surat? It is most poisonous belt on the earth spewing most toxic chemicals. Gujarat's progress is at the tremendous cost of environment. It is not worth the human cost.

To add,
1) Operation WHITE FLOOD (MILK) was initiated in Gujarat by Dr. Kurien which took India in 1998 (may be 1999) to become highest milk producer in the world.
2) Consumption of GOLD in Gujarat is highest in India.
3) Largest number of immigration & emmigration is done from Gujarat. Also highest nos of passports are issued from Gujarat.
To correct,
1) Now ALANG is not the largest ship breaking yard in the world. Its Chittagong of Bangladesh.
Its true, earlier the Golden Corridor was poisonous but now the senario has changed a lot. Otherwise, we could have witness another BHOPAL tragedy.

Baroda gas project - bringing natural gas to every home - More than 35 years ago they installed pipelines to bring natural gas to every kitchen. I think that was an amazing feat.
AMUL - NDDB & Dr. Kurian - another achievement for Gujarat - it was just fantastic to see how they collected milk early morning from every village in Gujarat. The villagers would line up at 3 in the morning at the milk collection centres!!! What a sight!
