Hi Friends,

My name is Arvinder, from Chandigarh, My wife is RN in India and she has received offer lettter from hospital in Edmonton.

How ever we have already applied for immigration to Canada in Dec-03 under skilled worker category.I am thinking of applying dependent visa or vistor visa which ever category I will fall in, we also have 2 years kid which will accompany us.

My question to all of you is that how much funds I have to show to CIC for my stay with her and Is there are any other precautions that you can mention so that I can get visa along with her.

Secondly any body from Edmonton who is from India.

You are from which part of Canada.At the time of filling of Immigration I was planning to settle in Calgary, now she has job in Edmonton we may settle there if found suitable.

Please advice which is better place to live Edmonton Vs Calgary

Better place as in what???? Ur wife has a job offer from Edmonton and nothing from Calgary. And no, its practically not possible to commute from Calgary to Edmonton daily for work.

Regarding climate, Edmonton n Calgary both have almost similar climates, as far as I know, I was following both for almost an year and also check them now too (as i'm in Calgary now). So, even if somebody tells u calgary has that magical "chinook winds", the end result is both cities have almost identical climate.

You can and should apply for OPEN WORK VISA and not visitor visa. I came on work visa and my wife recd. open work visa. In that cse you can work anywhere.

You don't have to show settlemnt fund for work visa catagory. I didnot had to but still on safe side do carry required money and show that at airport. That money will help you anyway but is not mandotory.

Dear Sudk29, would please explain Little more regarding Open Work Permit. Do I need to apply alongwith my wife's application or need to get processed later. Is this a seperate category to apply.

You should apply for open work permit while applying for your visa and fill the form for open wrk permit. It is the same form as your wife except that you are not aving all back-up invitaion letter etc.
VFS at delhi, mumbai, etc. wil guide you. It is very simple process.
