I do not know about scarborough, but in Markham I would suggest two - Host and Jikoni (I do not remember how it is spelt - it means kitchen) - very different kind of good indian food - we had our daughter's sweet 16th there and it was great - just a little pricey.
Host is really great both for veg and non-veg and pricing is reasonable. You can get a party rate of $12 per person.
Chauhan - visited twice - the second time to give it a second chance (everyone deserves a second chance!) - will NEVER visit again unless forced to.
By the way, are your parents here or gone back?
Chandresh validated my comments. My first and last visit experience was so terrible that never thought of giving chance to Chauhan. He has opened another restuarant in Markham. I think it is Fine Indian Cusine. I am not sure but scared to go there.
Well, I have been to Chauhan's 3 times since June and I know numerous family members and friends that go there. Maybe the style of cooking is not to your liking.
But, as far my experiences, it is fairly authentic N Indian style food.
Thank you all for your recommedations. I will try get info from all the restaurants suggested.
