hi experts,
i was confused while filling IMM 5257 for visit visa,
it asks us to write down the "funds available for your stay in canada" or something like that
i have been invited by my brother who is a student there, i have a job here and some bank balance. he also has job at the university and some bank balance. he wishes to sponsor me.
so does the funds available for my stay in canada mean that i have to add these itmes
like: my bank balance+his bank balance+his annual salary
or do i have to add my property here, my annual salary etc
i would highly appreciate your inputs
thanks
one more thing
in # 3 the purpose of my visit
is it tourism or just say visit my brother in canada (check box others)
and finally, does it make any difference in the probability of visa issuence if i check multiple entry visa even if i am visiting for less than 6 months.
can single entry visa be changed to multiple entry visa in canada and extended
thanks in millions again
really appreciate your help

I don't think you can include property, house and other fixed assets, unless you plan to sell them to finance your visit
It is simply the funds available for travel.
If your brother is contributing to the travel costs (such as by providing you an air ticket), just add all that.
Also, just so you know, for visit visa, there is no concept of "sponsoring" - sponsoring applies only for permanent resident applications.
In this case, he is "inviting".

If you say tourism, they might ask for your tourism plans, such as where all you want to go, where you plan on staying and $$ becomes even more imporant.

In some ways, single entry visa is safer when applying the first time.
OTOH, requesting single entry visa might imply that you don't plan to return

You can extend your stay from within Canada, but a new visa cannot be issued within Canada - for that you have to go to a consulate.
I HAVE SOME UESTIONS TOO ...
KINDLY ANSWER THESE AS WELL
im applying for a temporary residence visa which is a visit visa to canada and i have some questions
1) when filling the form they ask for the present address? in here should i mention the mailing address or the residential address because everything here in Saudi Arabia goes by P.O box and in the form above they asked for both the mailing and the residential address, and in the residential one u cant write the P.O box and is just general info it wont help at all, so which address shall i write?
2) funds available for ur visit? what shall i write here just the money im taking along for my visit right
3) provide a photocopy of the return ticket or travel itinerary? do we have to buy the ticket first to show this or can we just show them the booking paper like a booking itinerary
please let me know any inf u have about these
Kalim71:
Put multiple VISA. Decisions are not based not that it is always good to have multiple visa.
Showing lots of funds available for travel, a letter of reference from your employer, your income tax returns and a plan of travel / purpose of visit that makes sense will help your chances of getting visa considerably.
As Pratickm said, your brother inviting you and he is just a student. Hence your focus should more on demonstrating your ability to manage the trip successfully.
