Overall Accountability:

The Business Systems Analyst designs new technology solutions to improve business efficiency and productivity by acting as the main liaison to the business community.

The Business Systems Analysts confirms the business' needs and documents existing business processes, workflows, system processes, and dataflows in order to identify, recommend, and document the appropriate new business and systems requirements to address those needs. Once approved, the Business Systems Analysts works closely with the Application Development and Testing Services teams by supporting the technical system design, systems testing, integration testing, quality assurance testing and user acceptance testing to implement the agreed upon solution.

Your responsibilities include:

- Problem/opportunity definition
- Feasibility studies
- Assisting the project manager with cost/benefit analyses
- Documenting existing business processes, business workflows, and system dataflows
- Developing detailed business requirements
- Developing detailed functional specifications
- Facilitating walkthroughs to confirm business requirements and functional specifications
- Supporting the development team during design and coding of functional specifications
- Supporting the testing team during test environment setup and test execution
- Co-ordinating variance investigation and resolution
- Assisting in the development of user education programs related to technology initiatives
- Assisting in the development of project implementation plans
- Identifying and managing risk
- Reviewing and assessing the impact of scope changes
- Providing post-implementation support
- This position requires a limited amount of production environment support outside of normal business hours

As the qualified candidate you possess:

- Minimum two years Business Analysis or Business Systems Analysis experience
- College or University accreditation with emphasis on business or computer systems preferred
- IFIC Operations, IFIC Sales, or CSC accreditation preferred
- Solid understanding of mid-range mainframes, client-server platforms, relational database concepts, and distributed systems
- Strong analytical, decision making and problem solving skills
- Strong communication skills (verbal, written, comprehension and presentation)
- Strong interpersonal skills, persuasive and patient manner
- Must have initiative, a high level of discipline and the ability to work independently
- Knowledge of the Canadian mutual fund industry would be an asset
- Knowledge of systems software development lifecycle an asset
- Knowledge of project management methodologies an asset
