Hi,

At the time of my landing in Canada, I had given a relative's address for the PR card to be mailed. I then returned back to the US, and plan to move to Canada there in the next couple of months.

Is it legal for them to mail the card back to me in the US, so I can re-enter Canada? Or is it mandatory for me to obtain the Travel Document?

Any information will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks.

Masood might know it better ...

But as long as I have read ... you don't need PR Card if you are entering Canada by Private Carrier (Car).

I have entered Canada thrice after PR Card Thingy ... I have asked all three times ... But I know friend who was not asked for it.

This is what they have said in FAQ

2. Is the PR card mandatory?

Yes.
The card will be mandatory for permanent residents returning to Canada by commercial carrier as of December 31, 2003. As of this date, permanent residents returning to Canada by airplane, boat, train or bus must show their PR card to carrier personnel when boarding to prove their permanent resident status in Canada.

I don't know which date they are talking about.
