I agree. Hondas are quite easy to steal. Mine got stolen off my driveway in broad daylight!!! I got it back though after 2 weeks...just some kids that took it joyriding.

For the second straight year, the 1999 and 2000 Honda Civics SiR 2-door hold the dubious distinction of topping this year's most frequently stolen vehicles list. The two models also had the third and fourth highest theft claims cost per vehicle. The list is put together by Canada's car insurers.

Eight cars share the distinction of being the least stolen vehicles including the 2000 Saab, 2002 Pontiac Bonneville and Ford Taurus

The Top 10 Stolen Vehicles are:

1. 2000 Honda Civic SiR 2-door
2. 1999 Honda Civic SiR 2-door
3. 2004 Subaru Impreza WRX/WRX STi 4-door AWD
4. 1999 Acura Integra 2-door
5. 1994 Honda Civic Si 2-door Hatchback
6. 1998 Acura Integra 2-door
7. 1993 Dodge Shadow Convertible
8. 1996 Honda Civic Si 2-door Hatchback
9. 2000 Audi TT Quattro 2-door Coupe
10. 1996 Chev/GMC Blazer/Jimmy S Series 2-door 4WD

I am in the market to buy a used Honda / Toyota (97~2002) and I find that most (almost 90%) listed are with manual transmission. I find that very interesting - is there a reason? Were manual transmission a rage in that period? or are only the manual transmissions on sale ? I am looking on Autotrader and CL...any comments?

I do not see a reason why you're seeing so many manual cars in that year range. It's probably a timing thing. Wait for a some time and you may get a good deal

I have a 97 Camry which is an auto. I remember the time when I was buying the car, there were tons of auto ones around.

BTW, R U interested in buying my car :D ...just kidding...
