Hi,
1. Use the same address (Yonge street) which is on your letter. While writing the letter mention about the letter (or attach a copy).
2. Your son will have to get his travel document (TD) from India (Canadian consulate in India should assist him) and you should be applying for it (I mean as a parent you need to fill in the form). If he comes to UK to stay with you then TD should be applied from UK.
3. After the 180 day limit all things expire (informing them....they don't care if we come before 180 days or after), when your son travels on a TD, AFTER 180 days limit you'll have to file a new application, wait for its response and get his PR card. (This route means going to Canada two times).
If you travel on a TD BEFORE 180 days, you go to CIC click picture and wait for the PR card to arrive via post.
I've explained this earlier too. Hope this helps.

Hi Jonav
Thanks a lot for your reply. Yes you did explained me this before. But it is somewhat complicated. So asking again. Please don't mind.
If we apply a TD for my son from India by any chance do you know how long it will take (approximately)?
If we go to Canada after 180 days time limit you said that we have to file a new application, wait for its response and get his PR card.
How long will it take to get his PR card by this way.
Actually we are planning to come to Canada along with our son in June 2010 to live there. Can we file a new application at that time. Is it the whole long process again as our PR. Please tell this clearly.
Hope you don't mind.
Manythanks

1. For any TD application be it India or abroad it takes 2-3 weeks (including the time for courier where passports are sent to embassy along with form and fees). Fill up your form, attach fees, passport and send it to Embassy via courier (keep courier receipt) and you should get your TD in 2 weeks approx.
2. If you are coming to Canada in June 2010 then apply for a TD for him. After you reach here, fill in a new application (to clarify, the application you fill in is for a new card (with new picture clicked by a good photographer in Canada) and not for new Permanent residentship). The card should be ready after 1.5 months but this time since you'll be staying in Canada it won't be a problem to pick it up.
The application for a PR card, details can be found here in the link.

Hope its okay now.

Jonav and Gopal thank you very much for your replies. First I will write them a letter and see how it goes.
Many thanks,

Sorry for the duplicate post.
Hi all,
This is regarding my 4 year old son's PR card. We landed in June 2008 and we were in Toronto for a week and left. We gave our friends address for PR cards. We haven't received our son's PR card. CIC sent a letter mentioning that his photos need to be retaken within 180 days. So as we are not in Canada we were unable to take our son for the photo session. Our friend was unable to contact CIC on our behalf. Also as I am not in Canada I cannot call the toll free number from outside the country.
I asked about this in CD at that time. People like Jonav and Gopalpai kindly replied me. I am thankful for them. From their replies I realised there is no point in posting my son's photos and we decided to do it once we come there permanently. But as you all know that the economy is bad we are postponing to come there.
But now my friend in Toronto received a letter again from CIC on 1st Feb 2010 asking to bring my son for the photo session within 2 weeks from 1st Feb 2010. As we are not there it is impossible for us to come. They also mentioned in the letter "if you fail to attend, your application will be abandoned and you will have to submit another application".
So as they said after we come there may be end of 2010 or even later (haven't decided yet when to come) can we reapply again at that time. Is there any complication if we do that. Will they ask us any questions as why we haven't been living in Canada? What would be the actual process for reapplying again? How long will it take?
Also should I have to fax them (as I cannot call them from abroad) to let them know that we are unable to come as we are not in the country. If so can any one kindly tell me the fax number or e-mail address? Or if I write a letter to them explaining all this is the postal address same as in the letter (55 St. Clair Ave East....).
Can any one please advice what would be the most appropriate thing to do. Has any one been in the same situation before. Please reply.
Thanks a lot.
Many thanks,
SS.
