Why there is no statement (except a very short statement from foreign minister) from Canadian leaders for the loss of seven Canadian citizens in Lebanon?
Here's the first direct mention of Iran...

Yep. I am watching the conflict coverage and here is my understanding.
1) The conflict was created to divert the attention of G8 summit from Iran's nuclear capabilities.
2) The war will be limited to Hezbolla and Israel and will not spill over to Syria and Iran as both countries are not prepared for the war. This was stated by Madeline Albright.
3) Israel was preparing for this offensive for a long time i.e. attack Hezbolla in Lebanon and kidnapping of the soldiers provided that opportunity.
So in nutshell, Iran and Israel got what they were looking for. Once their agenda is over the war will be over. Iran's agenda is over. Israel's agenda is not yet over. they need to strike more to destroy Hezbolla. Once that is done they will allow Condoleza Rice to mediate and agree to a ceasefire.
However, it is war and things can change any time.
The Arabs putting the blame where it should rest. The tone definitely seems fo be changing even if its the sunni bloc backing its own regional interests

'LEBANON is under attack from Israel. Its economic infrastructure is being destroyed. Lebanese politicians cannot hide their feelings because Hassan Nasrallah has done some grave miscalculations under instructions from the outside. Nasrallah has dragged Lebanon and its people into misfortune.'
More interestingly:
'From now on talk such as demanding the allocation of $150 billion to establish an Arab army within 10 years to throw Israel into the sea should be banned.'

Most of the 20,000 Lebanese Canadians trapped in Lebanon must have moved to there country after getting Canadian citizenship , because it is imposible for so many of them to be on holidays at the same time.
And now when things got hot they want to flee the country and expect the Canadian government to help them.
How ironic.
