Since this attack has been there for 2 days and since no one in CD discussed about it, i thought that it will be better to have a thread to discuss about it.
The latest CNN's head line news says that Isreal belives that the long range missiles fired at Haifa yesterday might have been made in Iran. If it indeed was true, Do CD's think that Israel might try to destroy the nuclear facilities of Iran (with US's urge & blessings). Also that act will bring a sigh of relief to USA and EU. Isreal is already alienated in the middle east and hence any act will not matter to Israel at all. I also canot belive that Israel is doing all this for just 2 soldiers being kidnapped and 10 dead. I belive that this is with an inner motive. Israel did that with Iraq previously.
Also i was disturbed by the news that Lebanon asked for a cease fire from Isreal. Is Lebanon that weak a military power to request that?

Sidenote 2 : Also i find that Al-Jazeera ( http://www.aljazeera.com" rel="nofollow">LINK ) gives a completely different version than the CNN/ The Star version taht we are so used to. For e.g. The Star/CNN says that Israel withdrew from Southern Lebonon in 2000 whereas Al-Jazeera says that Hezbollah attacks prompted Israel to withdraw (as a defeated army) from south lebonon in 2000. Whom should the common man belive?

First of all, the war has escalated to more than what could be called a "comfort level". If Israel attacks Syria, Iran says, it will attack Isr. Then the war would spread to Iran , Syr and of course continue in Pal and Leb. Is that what is needed? No. So, hopefully, the politician clowns in the US and west supporting Isr would show more restraint than letting Isr attack Iran.
Yes, Leb and Pal are mere puppets in the hands of the terrorists, whether it be Hamas or Hezbollah. And increasingly, we are seeing this in Afghanistan and Pak where the so called Govt is not able to do anything to control the terrorists (in the case of Afg) and maybe not willing to do anything (in the case of Pak). So, yes, Leb has good reasons to plead for a ceasefire since unfortunately they have little control.
Also, Israel's actions are quite disproportianate with a more deeper agenda, hence it is cruel and inhumane and the common civilians are the ones to suffer.
Having said that, I am sick and tired of these common civilians not doing anything to curb terrorism in their own backyard. In fact they support it and grow it. So, am I sorry to see Leb and Pal being attacked ? Nope, not at all. Hopefully, the civilians realize the consequences of their support to terrorism.
If any of you watched CBC last night, the CSIS spy, who infiltrated and uncovered the 17 suspects in Toronto, and CBC news stated that the suspects were flushed out partly with the help of the muslim community in and around Tor. Assuming that is true, there needs to be more muslim community involvement in these terrorist nations to bring about reduction and elimination of fanatism.

Yes, I have been watching. This is little on a bigger scale than usual things. However, today's report says Israel's attacks have been very pointed to Hezbolla strongholds and civilian casulty is not very high. So that is a consolation. Israel says the attacks are not against civilians and just against Hezbolla and once Hezbolla infrastructure is destroyed they will retreat.
Hopefully, though this is an escation of higher degree than usual but things will be back to normal once Israel acoomlishes what they want.
Please remember that at one time, The MATHAMA was branded as a terrorist as well, so were many of the slave freedom workers in the USA. There are many examples of these in the recent history

That is true.
However branding somebody with a "title" is one thing, the effects that are/were created by those people are another. The Brits were "pissed off", so they called him "names". That's why we see the groups calling themselves "Freedom fighters" while the media calls them "militants" and Israel and John Bolten (US ambassador to UN) calls them "terrorists".
Mahatma did not go around blowing himself up or advocate suicide bombings against civilians, among other things. The effects of the modern terrorists are more disastrous than those previously titled as "terrorists".
But again, as Loser pointed out, there will be no end to this
