Hi,

Can anyone give me an idea, how long does it take now to get PR/SIN card after landing and registering. I am told it takes more than 4-6 weeks.Is it true? (or it varies based on location)

Can i take up an employment stating that i have applied for the PR card ( I am not sure if the potential employer would require the number or the copy of the PR card?)

I believe it varies from location to location. A friend of mine in Toronto took the time you mentioned to get his PR and SIN card. I got my cards in less time.

No, you do not have to wait to get your cards to start working. When you apply for your SIN card you will be given a printout with your card number; you can show this to your employer.

My Visa is valid till Oct 2006 and I would like to come back to India after checking my joining formalities at Toronto/ Edmonton and want to fly back as soon as possible..I would like to give the address of a friend in Canada for collecting the PR and SIN card...is this possible and what is the minimum time I can be in Toronto/ Edmonton?
