I hv read that if funds more then 10 grants we need to declare..

why do they ask?
and do we have to pay taxes if its more than 10k.

Immg Officer will ask how much funds you have brought. He or she will write on landing papers. Make it sure that they write it on your landing papers.

There are no taxes for any amount for money.

As part of your immgration process, you are required to bring in certain amount of funds for settlement. Immg or custom canada do not have problem if you bring amount exceeding that requirement. Make sure you declare when you land.
