Mississauga is west of Toronto near the Airport not very far from down town toronto...it will take about 30( maybe even less) minutes from heart of missauaga to downtown toronto by car on a good traffic day. if you choose to stay there u can get weekly bus passes for $19. buses are the only mode of transport in mississauga, frequency of service is good but very slow, but most areas in the city is accessible.
you can also get weekly/monthly passes for toronto ttc as well.

Only Toronto city has good transportation system. All other areas - Mississauga, Brampton, Markham etc. has the system but not as effective as the one in Toronto, especially the frequency.
If one have to change two busses and the frequency of bussses is 30 minutes, he/she has to consider atleast one hour to reach the destination. Changing three busses would make it 1.5 hours!
Whereas in GTA normal bus frequency are much more - many times it is every 4 minutes.
For a new immigrant this is an important issue to choose a location.

2. Yes, many immigrants get into their first jobs easily in mississauga but most of such jobs are factory laborjobs since mississauga and surrounding area is an industrial hub. Because of its popularity with new
I think this is the other misconception you have about Mississauga. Just read this portion of Amit’s post:
“The Greater Toronto's FIRE sector including Mississauga is 3rd largest in North America and amongst largest in the world.
Average Household income is $65k/annum, above both provincial and national averages.
70% of work force has post-secondary education.”
Does it say something? If Mississauga and Brampton have more industries, it does not mean only labour jobs are available in those factories. Industries in Mississauga and Brampton also offer the highest paid jobs ( to immigrants) available in the industry. So please don not label these cities as “LABOUR HUB OF CANADA”

(By the way I also live in Mississauga

)
Thanks and regards.

Biomed,
I think you got me wrong. i never called Mississauga a "labour hub of canada".
Just that bacause of the higher density of factories there, many new immigrants end up in factory labour jobs. If one has a proper job it is a great place to live and settle down, but .... is it the most convenient place for a newly landed immigrant?
probably NOT. The statistics are impressive no doubt, but how does it compare with Toronto ?
Despite the statistics the ground realities for a new immigrant are very different, i'd say the biggest drawback is inefficient transport system which can hurt a newcomer bigtime. Try waiting for a bus for half an hour in cold winter months. I went thru it in Jan, and i know how it feels to lose half a day in just going and coming from the library!!
where as in toronto one does not even need to spend 5 minutes waiting for a TTC train or streetcar or a bus. and many places are even walkable and not that spreadout. .
If one looks at Mississauga in isolation, it is a great place to be. but when compared to Toronto ,a new immigrant can be much more productive in Toronto than in mississauga in looking for opportunities, and is a great place to start off from.

I fully agree Misthar India! One should look at 905 area only after buying a car, and having somewhat stable job in that area!
