Hi Ashish,
Point u have there....But in this kind of scenario - would the whole family be required to go in for the interview or only the principal applicant ?
Is this a common procedure or case to case to call for an interview once you apply for the PR/SIN card upon arrival ?
Suppose I stayed back in Vancouver and sent my family back (they have school sessions etc) which cannot be broken...would it suffice?
Anyone else gone through this ? Can you give some details please ?
Thanks

Well - I called up the Canadian Embassy here with my queries and this is the feedback i got below :
Q) Is it possible to extend my COPR/Landing date as I am unable to adjust dates - my last date is 2nd March and I am planning to go in Feb end - but would help if I could go in April end due to other priorities...
Ans) No Cannot be changed - I must be there in Canada before the expiry date.
Q) Can i go there for a week or so, Apply for the PR Card, SIN card and return within a week WITHOUT the PR or SIN CARD ?
Ans) Yes you can
Q) If I am called for an Interview or something prior to handing over my PR CARD - then what happens - will I be able to enter Canada for getting my PR Card.
Ans) Generally this does not happen - unless for a specific reason. But if it does - you will be sent a letter - wherin you will be asked to come for the meeting - ONLY you or MAYBE your family will be called - it depends on the reason for call.
Secondly, if called and you are OUT of Canada - you will need to apply for a VISA wherever you are - by showing proper travel documents and also the letter - thereby a visa will be issued - using which you can enter Canada and pick up the PR Card.
Boy! this is becoming more and more complicated than I thought...
Any advise guys ? I need to come back after a week or so and then move permanently in April - no other option I have.
Regards
Actually it is now easier than before. Based upon the feedback you got from Canadian consulate - you can come back to India after you initially land and apply for PR card. In the event that you are called in person for a PR card interview, you will require an entry permit to arrive in Canada - the letter itself will form the basis for which a single entry Visa can be issued.
Extension of landing date is not an option - I have never heard of them extending the landing date - it is typically 1 year from the date you did your medicals. Also if you do NOT land before your visa expires, your visa is invalid and the entire application process will need to be started again.

Another option...as suggested..and based on what I read (Thanks Manasvi)
If I come over and do not apply for the SIN card...? And leave after the few days...return in April and then apply for the SIN - is that a problem?
Also pls clear my understanding - I need to apply for the SIN card for every member in the family i.e myself, my wife and my daughter? or is it myself only.
Also Canadian Dream - you mentioned the photos need to be of a specific size - is there a link where I can see the documents needed for such applications and also the technical details like photo sie etc thats required prior to applying?
Regards
you will not be able to enter canada again if you dont have your PRcsard
