First let me tackle this notion of 1st world and 3rd world nation. Why is so important to live in the 1st world? Is it that you automatically become rich? Is it that you can never be successful in the 3rd world? India and Canada have about the same number of children (per capita%) living below the poverty line.

That brings me to the second part of this discussion. You cannot compare IRs. to $ directly. I am sure most people here are reading the 1st paragraph and saying the poverty line in India is a few rupees but in Canada it is a few dollars. And that you could live comfortably in India with an income at the Canadian poverty line. While that is true, it not the way to compare the two nations. Purchasing power parity (PPP) is the great equalizer. This also applies to the GDP. India's projected "Per Capita GDP" still has the purchasing power equal to or higher than the US/Canada/European GDPs. Don't forget with India's population multiplied by the Per Capita GDP is what makes it the formidable force in the next decade!

Yes, I said Decade. If you have kids in the primary education system right now, then I would suggest learning Mandarin as a second language. By the time they are out of Univ chances are that they will be working for a chinese conglomerate.

This century will belong to China and India. Barring any stupid ideological or political revolution in either of those countries, they are on course to be the next economic superpowers of the world. The evidence is everywhere.

Yes the evidence is in the growing waiting lists for PR applications to Canada and ever increasing F1 and H1 visa aspirants from INDIA and CHINA. Delhi ( about 64 months ) and China ( about 80 + months ) . If theya re booming then why would so many want to move out of those countries. ?
Most of the money India ( IT ) and China ( manufacturing ) is generated from the American market . Infact the single largest contributor of foreign exchange to India was the NRI remittances. Where has the money come to India and China from. ? It is from the very COuntries you mentioned that have peaked.

Reasons for leaving:
1. overpopulated..... 2. mad rush for the train bookings and stinking platforms and trains.3. mad rush for admissions in school colleges for kids.... 3.forcing our kids into unhealthy, stressfull competetions for the degree which has no recognition in many countries....4. where lectures convince the kids that b.Sc,b.com degress have no market values but still take innumerable exams and test to clear it and takes fat salries for the zero value courses they teach:p .....3. medically people survives only if u have pocket ful of money to pay to the private doctors...doctors acts like a bussiness man and force to take many unwanted medical tests....4.. no work can be done without bribes....5. bank staff looks at u with anger when u go to withdraw money ur own hard earned money...as if they are obliging u...5. indisciplin crowd and traffic on the roads..6. high paid jobs are there but only for few....7. starting bussiness is a headache here...and surviving in the bussiness is real tough...cost of living is much more then the earnigs here....and above all no one is accountable here.....

are these reasons not enough to migrate....see the present...y penetrate into future which is unknown....since my childhood i look into the future that something will change for good and i still see the future but tell how long should i keep seeing the future? till i die ..i suppose...at least kids will grow in healthy environments with less stressfull education systems...in india it is tortorous even for a kindergarten kid......but i still have some hopes that my country will shine one day....hope the day comes sooner....at least we can hope....

The line-ups are not an indication of anything being discussed. Fact is, England has more immigration officers than in China and India combined. 75M people have 7 officers, 2.5B should have 233 immigration officers. Guess what would happen to the line ups?

US/ Canada / Europe are not contributors to forex. They are buyers of products and services sold by India and China. Nobody gives out money for nothing. I disagree about the NRI contributions to India. While the amount is significant, I believe most of it is NRIs investing in what they see plainly as a growing economy. See the beauty of becoming a powerhouse in economic terms, is that you don't need forex. That is a concept for countries that are under-developed. Case in point - the fight to unpeg the Yuan.

Big Vee,

What was the point of starting this thread ? This "why immigrate" thing wud have made sense had u been in India and were successful. Sitting in Ontario and then making this comment shows "hypocrisy at its best".
