Hi all !
I have finally recd my landing papers! For the record, the timeline is----
Got File number: May 2001
IELTS: Jan 2003
Interview waiver: 8 Mar 2004
Medicals recd: 12 June 2004
Medicals done: 30 June 2004
Submitted passports: 2 Aug 2004
E-cas status changed: 21 Aug 2004
Recd landing papers: 10 Sep 2004
Request you to give me some information and advice.
A couple of my friends and me run a manufacturing company of our own in India. Now we feel it would make immense business sense to open a branch office in Toronto to source business from there and from the North American continent. We have also initiated the process and have a couple of clients based in Toronto.
We have decided to set up a branch office in Toronto.Initially I would be working from home for a few months. My questions are
1. How would we inform the canadian govt that I have a job and am employed?
2. What documents would I need to carry with me from my company here?
3. Will my company in India also need a SIN number to transfer/send me my salary? If yes, What do I do until I get the SIN number? Is there a possibility I can get it earlier if produce a letter from my company stating i am working for them?
4. My company will transfer money to my account which will include my salary as well as expenses incurred for the company. But I presume that the entire amount will be taxed. What can i do to show that only part of that amount is my income and
the rest of the money is for expenses incurred?
I am planning to move by the end of October and would need to make necessary arrangements before i get there.
Thank you....

You better consult a lawyer and an accountant for advise once you're in Canada.
