I have read many passimestic posting,stating that immigration is too risky thing to do.In my opinion if anyone seat idle nothing will happen in his life,even in the case of status quo.I have carefuly evaluated all the pros and cons(best of my abilities), and i decided to immigrate.I have been working with a pharma multinational giant for last 14 years as a salesman.I am drawing handsome salary (at least in Indian context), and i am posted in my home town.So I do not spend a single ruppee for accomodation.Even then i decided.In India there is no job security and social security form the govt's end is a far off dream.But in canada I am confidant that I can manage it.Now I am 35, and just applied, and it will take another 2 years to finnaly land over there.I have a son of 10 years, and my wife is a homemaker.After 18 years I appeared in the IELTS exam and i found that,Yes I can still do it.I successfully passed the N1 of french with 69% from l'alliance de francais.Now I am preparing for TEF(though i got 67 marks).I am trying hard ,rest depends on god.

There is another famous sanscrit slok which says-
JANG JANG KAMYATI
TANG TANG PRAPNATI NICHITAM.
So no looking back.I realy thank this forum that I got plethora of information about Canada.I appeal to my senior desis to keep on posting new success stories.I would suggest my fellow aspirant ,would be citizens of Canada, to try to learn lessons form the stories of failures, that how can we avoid this kind of situation.
Our the then managing director Mr.Paul Roche used to tell us "IF THERE IS WILL THERE IS WAY"
Sorry for the GYAN.
dc291 - Most people who immigrate from India come here with the same mind set as yours - Geeta and other sanskrit slokas in their heads, positive attitude, determination, hope for themselves and the family, money in their eyes, expectations of a decent job, and dreams of a happy secure future. Do you think ANY imigrant has come here expecting to work at labour jobs? No! The potential immigrant reads many stories of ruin and several posts of disaster, but he also read a few happy ones and because of the way the human mind works, he believes that the bad will not happen to him. It is called 'denial' - the attraction is so great that he refuses to accept that something bad can happen to him too. Just like those cigarette smokers! They know that smoking is one of the leading causes of cancer, and many people have died, but the smoker looks at the other smokers who have NOT died and says to himself - Well he did not die! I won't either! The potential immigrants psychology works somewhat in the same way. It is only after coming here, does he realize, depending on many many factors, whether eventually he is going to make it or not.
Welcome to Canada, the so called land of opportunities. But watch out- if things do not go right don't go "Wha..!"

Hi dc291,
The very fact that you are learning French, and doing quite well at it, is the best avenue you have chosen. Being bilingual will place you far above the rest of the immigrants and you will be in line for consideration for better jobs - even govt. ones.
Keep it up and you will succeed.
Bye,

Success
To laugh often and much;
To win the respect of intelligent people and the affection of children;
To earn the appreciation of honest critics and endure the betrayal of false friends;
To appreciate beauty, to find the best in others;
To leave the world a bit better, whether by a healthy child, a garden patch or a redeemed social condition;
To know even one life has breathed easier because you have lived.
This is to have succeeded. Bessie Stanley
