On the contrary I feel it is good that you had applied for Canada PR ... With H1B not coming up , there s the Canadian PR door open .

a. Once the pics reach CIC , I think you can expect the PR in less than a month .

b. Depending on your husband's experience he should be able to get a related job in 2-3 months .... some times the opportunities may be in some other province - you d have to make the call to relocate or wait for a suitable opportunity in the GTA .

Hi CD's,

Received my daughter's PR card.
My husband is coming to Canada on July 3rd. Will he be getting OHIP coverage immediately or should he take some insurance? I suppose he should go apply for SIN & open a bank account right after reaching there. He doesn't like credit cards, can he manage without one or is it very important to have one?

The OHIP coverage will start after 3 months. Should get the credit card ASAP to built credit history, which is very important. Pay off the balance every month to avoid paying any interest.

Commenting here after seeing the post from Tamilkuravan.
From UAE: In 1991 I had applied and was called for interview in Rome. A older family person who had just migrated, advised me frankly on the same lines/UAE is far better he said. I stayed back/wisely or not I do not know.
Now many years later I will soon be in Canada/PR as parent sponsored by my daughter. I just retired here; may be my savings will not last long but being with one's children.... think is worth a try !
