Dear CD ,

I know i have asked theses question but just to update myself and clear more doubts.

I asked the 220 to 110 step down thing...... Electric shop wala told that it will weight atleast 2 KG ( this is for the LAPTOP).

I do have SONY CYBERSHOT ( T5) .... DO we get battery charger in CANADA for same......as again this is 220 thing....

So what should i do... shall i bring the laptop or the STEP down equipment is cheap in Canada.

2ndly.. .Medcail insurrace has confused me a lot in India. So many are there but they just do it.. they dont know how it works in CANADA

SO What is the best way to buy this in CANADA even before we come.

3rdly few Agent told me that there is limit to take money per pessanger ( 2000 CAD $)

Is it TRUE.

One more about the AIR Baggage.. Rule....... How much noramally they allow.... for Adult and for INFANT ( Weight)

And lastly how much a PC cost there in CANADA and how much is inter net charges. ( this is if i want to keep my laptop in india and get new in CANADA .)

Looking forward......

1. You need a step-up transformer - convert 110V to 220 V.

2. Most laptops and camcorders chargers use 110~240V input- so you might not need any such thing. Please check the input ranges in your equipment and reconfirm.

3. In that case all you need is a pin converter - which is just size of a 3 pin plug.

Best advice is to buy insurance here, AFTER you land. If you have a relative or friend, they can buy for you in advance - but not really that critical unless you have an existing medical condition.

FALSE. You can carry upto $10,000 in cash without any issues. You can even carry more than that - but need to declare it to customs at time of entry. But honestly, it is not safe to carry that much cash anyways.

Most airlines permit 2 x 23Kg checked in baggage + 1 x 7Kg cabin bag per paid ticket. For infant travelling without ticket, only an additional cabin bag is allowed. Please check the website of your airline - everything is mentioned very clearly.

PC costs depend on the configuration you need -anywhere from $450.00 upto $2000.00. Same for Laptops. Check websites of popular retail stores and review the pricing and configurations to get more information.

Internet charges depend on source - but you cannot bring that from India.:D

Good luck.

If you are coming to Canada as a tourist (seems like you are immigrating from your post) then you can carry only 2000 USD per passenger according to Indian FEMA rules. You probably did not mention that you are immigrating, that is why agents told you 2000 USD. You can draw up to 100,000 USD if emigrating from India. http://www.rbi.org.in/scripts/FAQView.aspx?Id=53
