HI Guys
This is Jennifer . just wanted to let u'll know that i have landed in Canada . We arrived on the 4th April . Our landing process was a breeze , no question asked , no documents checked expect the reuquried Landing papers and the passport . The customs was easy too , the queue was long as they were checking most of the bags there . But we just flew thru the Requried process as we had our all our papers in order
With My Brother's help My husband , daughter and i have got our SIN card nos , opened our bank A/c and and register our Daughter in a Roman Catholic school here in Richmond Hill , Toronto ( I am staying with My Bro till my cargo arrives ). And we did this all in One day . I am geinuely amzaed how smooth things work here if u have evrything in order and someone to help u thru .
Now what worries me is getting a job and getting over the jetlag (I am writing this mail at 6.18 am in the morning , been awake since 3am). My hushband and i plan to apply for jobs, from Monday onwards . i hope we land something decent soon , as My hushband and are just college grads and work exp from the Gulf region only.
If anyone needs any info please feel free to ask . Wasn't much of an active member before as i didn't have much inputs to give being oustside Canada .
And I do hope to meet some of the CD members too . It has been a source of great comfort and information . Most of my landing process was smooth as i knew exactly what and how my paperwork should be done , Thanks to CD.
Thank you for all your support .
regards
jenny

Welcome to Canada, Jennifer! Glad to know your landing process was smooth and also glad to know that CD and members helped make it that way. Certainly heartening to hear when the efforts are paying off.
Wish you and your husband all the best in the days to come. And yeah, don't worry about the jet lag, that goes away on its own in 2/3 days.

Are you there?
Welcome to your new home... I know I welcomed myself here a few months ago. I hope you guys will have fair winds behind in your job search. I have no clue what living in Toronto is like, but I bet you will find more variety of food, people, and cultures. Enjoy your early days and take your time making contacts.
GOOD LUCK WITH JOB SEARCH...JSUT WASTER YOUR TIME WITH RECRUITING AGENCIES.
My wife landed a month ago and is looking for call center jobs.. She is not making much head way..
From my exp other than IT most other fields are difficult to crack into..
Even though i am making good money here i should say the job market here sucks..
I have 10 years IT exp ,About 2 months back i was looking for a change after working in another company here in toronto for 8-9 months.. Most recruiters i was interacting with were Indians and were saying u will have to settle for less than i was making, and guess what the jobs were for indian companies like Satyan, TCS etc..
It took me a month and that too because of my network i landed a better opening..
If this was india or USA it would have been max a week before i would have landed something similar ....
