Hi all,
I had Spring Canada phone services before 2 and half year and I cancelled that services however in the hazzle of moving I miss place thier confirmation number. It was out of town moving and after around 5-6 months I got letter stating due bills were 150$ and it had been sent to collection agency. When I argued that, they were asking confirmation number which i had lost. Now actually I paid it off to the collection agency with all the due charges. My question is, will it affact my credit or if I will go for loan, will it show up as bad record?
Any suggestion appreciated!!!
Please buy a full creadit report and check yourself if there is any bad / derogatory remak on your profile.
If it is there, you can call/contact the credit Bureau and explain them the situation and may be they will remove that negetive remark.
so the first step is check your credit report.
IMHO....it will show on your credit as -ve/bad remark.....the credit bureau won't remove it....Sprint Canada can't reverse it....the only option for you is to keep all correspondence that you had with Sprint in a file....and whenever in future you apply for loan/plc/mortgage....explain to the lender under what situation this happened.....on your credit bureau the date it was reported to collection would me mentioned....so you can also support the fact that you moved on xx/xx/xx and as a result you missed their last bill....and now you have paid it in full....keep the recpt of the payt handy....as you will have to show it to the new lender.....also speak with Sprint and ask them to report to credit bureau that although it did go to collection but now it's been paid in full....
I know it'snot your fault but that's the way credit works here and that's why one has to be extra casreful when it comes to moving....make a list of all your regular bills and keep checking them for any o/s bal atleast for 2-3 months after the move....once you are sure that you have been recvg all the mails properly then you don't have to worry.....also make use of the facility from Canada Post...called mail forwarding...it may cost you approx $35.00 for 6 months....but it's worth it
I do realise that you cncd the svc and that you do not have the cfmn # handy....that's why it's also imp to note such cfmn #s...especially the ones for cancellations....very handy to support the facts....I am not directing this remarks to you but just posting it hear for the benefits of all other fellow members.....I came here in May 2001 and was using free dial up svc from AOL....I cncd the svc within the allotted free time of six months....and I still have the cancellation # from then in one of my files....
hope this helps
