As regards High speed internet, I'm with 3web (www.3web.com), pay $25 a month and am happy. Fine print - I have to stay with them for long distance which is 2.95 + tax /month, else the internet rate goes up by $5.

For landline try Primus or Spint ie Rogers.

For cable - if you're in a house just install a satellite dish, and never pay any monthly fee. There's offcourse a one-time cost of around $450.

I am confused... so you don't pay monthly charges for satellite? But I see all these commercials stating that you pay $25 or $30/mth (or something along those lines... Similar to Rogers' fees.)

Plus buying new smart cards periodically?!

I believe he is talking about grey market and pirated satellite dishes and receivers for which you dont pay anything except the purchase price of the equipment and the other times when they have to repragram cards or some.

Yeap, that's what I was talking about. The dish and the receivers are not pirated. It's the software on the receiver that is hacked.

As regards paying for reprogramming - even that's out these days. The new software is freely available on the net. All you do is go into the set-up and change the code.

Hi,

Which are the different cable providers in Toronto and what is the average monthly bill for basic service? Have heard about Rogers and Bell and that they are rip off's.

Also does anyone provide Indian channels?

Have people tried out any other cable providers?
