cancelled my mobile services from Rogers way back and got a bill

Hello everyone,

I have got stuck to a problem. The problem is that i have already cancelled my mobile services from Rogers way back before 6 months but recently i am receiving phone calls from rogers and also from some collection agency. They says me that your bills for your mobile are not paid for last 6 months and if you don't pay we will give this to credit bureau and your credit history will be affected so please pay your standing bills as soon as possible. And moreover the bill they are showing is of big big dollars.

So, please if someone guide me and help me out like what shall be my next steps as i have never been in such situation way back in my home country ever since like shall i take some legal steps for this or not.

Thanks a lot in advance and i really need help to face this problem.

How did you cancel the service. I assume just by calling the Call Centre.

Did you receive any bills in the last 6 months.

Can it be proved that you cancelled the service.

The first thing to do is to call rogers and tell them that you did canceled the phone by calling so and so date (evenif you don't know exact date, it should be ok).

If they donot have any such record than you might be in trouble. May be you need to insists that you haven't used the services for last 6 months and you can prove it easily as they should have records of incoming/outgoing calls.

Sometimes you have to be very careful in calling these call center guys. May be while you canceled, he or she might have convinced you to keep the phone for few more months and you might have agreed. First find out what is in their record.

Please note - Your title of the topic was not clear. If you put a clear title more people can help you. The section of the topic was also wrong. You should have put it in the Public Services section. I did both of it for you.

Recently I have made some changes to my Rogers services (cell/internet/cable). They dont get it right the first time.

Call them twice to confirm changes/cancellations etc...

I always do.

Have you received any bills in last six month or not? They can demand money only if they have processed bills under name and mailed it to you.

Another thing have you cancelled your phone service under contract? Sometime people buy phone under three contract etc. Then you need to pay cancellation charges.

FIRST THREAT FROM COLLECTION AGENCIES : we will report to credit bureau. They also know that if they will report to credit bureau then they will get nothing from customer. Any way you can dispute the amount with credit bureau in case they report.

Collect all documents with you and call Rogers. Always note person name and time.

This is not true. Most organizations have a fine print... the amount is due by the due date, even if they do not send you the invoice.

This is from personal experience.
