plz tell me if its cheaper and wise to bring mobile phones(triband) from india rather than buying in canada specially for a person coming to canada soon permanently? Or do u get mobile phones along with your mobile service contracts offered by Rogers etc....

If you are coming to Canada permanently, its better to buy a cell phone in Canada.
Most companies offer cellphones at very reasonable rates if you sign a 1 or 2 year contract with them.

I understand Virgin is launching services in May, 05, they are proposing to do away with monthly system access charges($6.95), no charges for call dispaly,other similar stuffs and they shall not be binding you in any long term contracts too, they may not provide u the free cell phone, it definitely shall give tough competition to the existing bell & rogers monopoly, worth waiting for its launch
