Erebello,
i will chk this out about Indian officials objecting exit from India..i feel for immigration they shd not mind..if it is visitor visa, it would create problem
anyways, i will chk it out
Secondly the CHC Delhi office never bothered to ask us whether we want visa on soon to expire passports though they had the zerox copy since 3 yrs. In fact they sent back my hubby's passport saying it did not have date on it. At that point also they did not inform that visa validity will be only till date of passport expiry
That is the way they operate

Mr. Massood,
We will be flying between 4th to 7th October. My daughter's passport will expire on 11/10/04. Can you advise whether Indian officials will object exit from India ? I am highly concerned about this issue now.
regards
and what about getting new passport in Canada upon landing? will she get legal documents without a valid passport? and will it hamper the school admissions?

Hi Anujark,
While you wait for massood's reply, you can call ur 'regional passport office' and inquire.
Please go to this link and find the location nearest to you http://indianpassport.nic.in/rpoi.htm
I'm not sure how CHC delhi is operating however i appled thru CHC london and they did inform me about my passport expiry and gave me the option.
I think u shoul be fine by landing in early oct.
ciao
it is upto you to renew the passport in India or you can renew it after coming here in Toronto with the Counsulate Office. It takes a week to renew the passport here

First of all my special thanks to Mr. Himanshu Jain from Delhi who called me up from Delhi to tell that renewal of passport will lead to change in landing papers thro CHC Delhi..if we had not done this, we could have landed in great trouble at Toronto airport. Our tkts were booked for 2nd October, 04 and as soon as Mr. Jain informed us, we sent a fax to CHC Delhi informing them about renewal of my duaghter's passport. Within 3 days we got a message on our mobile from CHC Delhi confirming that the landing papers for my daughter needed to be changed before departure.
It is good that we have atleast 15 days in hand to get this done. Imagine if we had gone ahead with our assumption of renewing passport and travelling with the old as well as the new passport! The canadian immigration authorities might have deported my daughter..!!!
This website which provides a wonderful footing for people to share their experiences, has proved to be really helpful. I think no words can express my feelings for the initiative taken by Mr. Jain. Thanks once again.

Well done. Valuable advice from all except 'intransit'. This further illustrates how careful one should be before posting a reply/advice.
Bon Voyage & Good luck!
