Hi MI,

When you applied for your police clearance from Indian Consulate,NY did u submit your original passport or a copy is good..

The problem it takes 45 days to get a PCC in NY and i am not sure i can submit my orignal passport for 45 days due to business reasons.

It seems that all indian consulates have a different approach...while some consulates require there passport to be submitted others don't.

regards,
coolone

Hi Cool one ( thande wale :D , sorry that was a poor translation of coolone, but couldnt resist it )

I did submit my original passport and they said it would be mailed in 2-3 weeks and they took my original passport. ( this was in aug2002)

It seems the duration is not increased ot 45 days. If you need your passport for travelling during this time then you should take an appointment with th counsular and explain to them the situation , they will then ask you to bring it in person to the counsulate at the time of picking up the PCC report.

Hope this helps.
