In 2008, 3yrs back CAD was 47 on the Rupee.. so Rs has kind off kept flat against CAD. Its the USD where the volatility is seen (most of it is tied to the trade deficit)

For a brief period of time in September 2008, the exchange rate peaked to around 45.50, otherwise average would have been around Rs. 42 for 1 CAD for 2008.

The inflation would affect those living in India. Those who have invested in India and are staying in US/Canada should look at the situation differently.

Those who have invested in India 5 years back, now have 5 fold return in terms of Ruppes. Evenif you do conversion rates and other charges it is still much much higher return.

The war against Iran is under speculation or in much more mature state that would drive the petrol prices up again. US dollar will again go up and then ......

I think India is being exploited... wake up now...

India is growing at an amazing rate.
Money flows like water here. Companies care a damn is $ Vs. Rs. rate is growing bigger and bigger (except IT companies).
The reason that I see is that India is getting lots and lots of money (being invested) much more than what USA is printing $. Hence as Rupee gets accumulated more, it is losing ground on the US $ which is not being printed as much as the Indian rupee.
Compound that with the high interest rates here where your Rupee gets multiplied much more.
It is so easy here to make 1 to 10 % profit on the stock market atleast once a week.
Peace

Australia does trading with China just like Canada does trading with USA.
China has been going on great guns since 2000. So naturally the economy of Australia is going great guns and the currency has appreciated.
One of the major reasons why Indians who migrated to Australia are well settled.
Peace
