Hi,
My husband's WP is expiring this month (sept 25th,2011) and so is my open work permit. He is still waiting for his LMO result. He applied for his LMO by July 1st,2011. My husband's employer did not receive any updates on LMO so far.
1) My husband is planning to apply for his WP extension and later inform the CIC if he gets the LMO result by calling the CIC number.
Am I eligible to apply for Open work permit extension given that my husband's LMO is still in progress ?
2) Or should i quit my full time job, and change my status to visitor ?
Please suggest as we have very little time left for filing our workpermits !!
Once your husband apply for extension, Both of you will be in Implied status till CIC take a decision on your file. You can continue in your full time job. In his application, Don't forgot to apply your WP extension.

1. It is unusual that an employer is coming on the way to include spouse in the application. It is your husband who is supposed to apply for the work permit and not the employer. Anyway, you may apply in a separate application paying the work permit fees.
2. Your LMO process is taking more than current average time. Hope you will hear from them soon before 25th. You may wait for another 10 days for LMO before your husband apply for extension. Normally when additional documents are submitted, HRSDC takes decision immediately ( same day or next day).
